Do We Really Have Free Choice?

It has been said that this is the planet of Free Choice. That we are the rulers of our own destiny. That we can choose to steer ourselves in a specific direction.

So what does Free Choice mean?

Does it mean that my wish is my command? That I can decide to do anything and that it will magically manifest? That the so called Law of Attraction is absolute and works every time?

Perhaps, but I would like to look at what Free Choice means in a society of inspired individuals exercising integrity, truth and compassion.

I would like to suggest that Free Choice is the choice we have between resisting what is presented to us and accepting that maybe we should go with the flow because we may not have the whole picture yet. That MAYBE, the Universe has a slightly better birds’ eye view of the entire situation. That maybe, instead of being reactive, mean, short sighted and short tempered (and we’ve ALL been there), that we could Choose to take a step back, breathe, reassess and THEN choose the path of least resistance.

So what is the path of least resistance? Well a few examples are:

  1. Accepting new opinions:
Learning that mine is not the only way or opinion and that if we try doing things in cooperation, we could create a win-win situation. That every opinion should be considered and then the decision made should be the closest thing that can benefit us all.
  2. Recognizing Resistance:
Recognizing when I am in resistance or repeating and old pattern and reacting from that place. Now this is a really hard one to break and it is usually deeply ingrained possibly on a generational level. A good past life regression therapist or someone who does ancestral work could really help here. The key is to release the pattern and create a new, healthy one.
  3. Inviting in Allies:
Asking for help and deciding that it’s okay not to have to do this alone. Sometimes another pair of eyes or ears can make all the difference in the world by being able to see a solution or path from a very different angle.

To me, this is truly free choice – to really know that I am responsible for the way I respond. I have been told that as human beings, it’s not so clear if we do have free choice and that at times we are somewhat like marionettes. Truthfully, if that may be the case, I will just go back to doing the very best that I can to be as good as I can be, despite my human weaknesses, including my fears. This doesn’t mean that I get it right all of the time – sometimes not even close, but I do remind myself to do the best I can.

So if you would like to explore releasing those old patterns, clearing away the hooks and conditionings of the past and to truly begin living your purpose ON PURPOSE, then I invite you to a 30 minute complementary “Soul Discovery, Soul Recovery” session.
