Do You Practice Self Care?

self careDo you take the time and space to check into yourself on a regular basis?

Do you have a practice or ritual that helps you to connect with yourself?

Have you ever asked yourself what it is that you may be in need of right at this moment?

If you have answered “yes” to any of these questions, then congratulations, you practice Self Care on a regular basis!

Many of us, however, fail to check in with ourselves and at times find ourselves in a whirlwind of constantly providing for others, without taking the opportunity to receive the care or energy that would recharge us and bring us to a state of equilibrium and coherence.

Many of us are in a constant state of deficit in this regard. This can lead to both physical and psychological ailment. We were never meant to be “on” all of the time, but unfortunately in our society, we are most appreciate for what we DO rather than how we ARE.

It’s the Doing that is most valued rather than the Being.

There are many ways you can practice self care, and here are a few:

Grounding: Just this morning I took a walk through the fields to my favorite Oak tree. This tree is a huge being with a beautiful canopy. Every time I walk beneath the spread of the canopy I sense an amazing feeling of power and peace. This morning, as I sat down at the trunk and leaned against it, I felt the tree welcome me deeply, with a sweet vibration of soft strength. People who advocate earthing or grounding recommend sitting at least 20 minutes on the ground to connect with the resonance of the Earth. It helps our endocrine and nervous systems recalibrate and switches our polarity back if it has been switched the wrong way. We need to electrically ground to the Earth in order to stay healthy!

Sleep: Just like grounding, getting adequate, quality sleep also helps our systems to recalibrate and process nutrients and events during the night. If you have trouble sleeping, check if you are missing nutrients with a kinesiologist and see how to get help to balance your body rhythm. Ask me for more personalized details on this.

Your Emotions: Do you know that incessant worry and fear can have a detrimental effect once again on your endocrine and nervous systems? If this is the case with you, find a good practitioner who specializes in trauma and anxiety.  There are several simple ways to resolve this too.
